University Scholarship Application Guidance

1. Are you eligible?

The Allan & Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust makes awards directly to UK universities towards their master’s scholarship programmes and does not make awards directly to individual students.

Applicants who can demonstrate that they are actively seeking funding from other sources will be viewed favourably.

Please note that the Trust cannot provide retrospective funding. Only applications for future projects will be considered.

  • These scholarships are directed at master’s courses that are particularly relevant to raising levels of skill of students from the Global South.
  • Priority is to be given to those from poorer countries and from poorer individuals who would not otherwise be able to study in the UK.
  • The intention is to encourage students to study in the UK and to benefit from the opportunity to build networks with students from the UK and overseas.
  • The maximum funding from the Trust is to cover 50% of the total costs of the scholarship matching funding should be specified in the application.
  • Applicants must answer the questions provided, rather than giving general commentary.
